BROOKLIN AND THE 1940 FORD SEDAN DELIVERY (BRK9)

The 1940 Ford Van has a long history as the base for many promotionals beginning with the release of the Marque Products van in 1979 and was likely intended that way. The very first models were made in Canada but the main production was made in England. Two castings were used, one with ridged side panels and the other one with smooth side panels, which is the most used. The...

BROOKLIN AND THE 1989 SAN FRANCISCO EARTHQUAKE

On October 17, 1989, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake, which lasted around 15 seconds, hit the San Francisco Bay Area, killing 67 people with more than 3,000 others injured and causing more than $5 billion in damages. Despite the fact that the disaster was one of the most powerful and destructive quakes ever to hit a populated area of the United States, the death toll was relatively small. The earthquake is...

BROOKLIN AND THE 1940 CHRYSLER NEWPORT (BRK8)

The 1940 Chrysler Newport was originally produced in dark and medium shades of metallic green in Canada. An off-white Canadian version was made for the National Model Car Convention. After Brooklin moved to England, a signal amber version was made. Two casting types, C2 and E2, do not have the raised Le Baron badge on the front fenders. The license plate is only on rear. The model was deleted in...

BROOKLIN AND THE 1934 CHRYSLER AIRFLOW (BRK7)

A single casting has been used for both Canadian and British production of the 1934 Chrysler Airflow, differing only in statement of country of manufacture on the baseplate. Early models are cream with blackwall tyres and blue license plates. Rectangular vents on the front fenders suggest that the model is specifically the Chrysler CU Airflow four-door sedan. Other details, including the windshield wipers, triple-blade bumpers and rear fender skirts, create...

BROOKLIN AND THE CARRERA PANAMERICANA

The Carrera Panamericana was a border-to-border car racing event on open roads in Mexico similar to the Mille Miglia and Targa Florio in Italy. This gruelling race ran South to North, from Tuxtla Gutierrez, near the Yucatan Peninsula, to Nuevo Laredo, just short of the Texas border, a distance of 1.372 miles. Running for five consecutive years from 1950 to 1954, it was described as the most dangerous race of...
