BROOKLIN AND THE AVON DIECAST & TOY COLLECTORS SOCIETY

The Avon Diecast and Model Collectors Society was founded in 1983 and flourished during the boom-time of diecast and model collecting in the later 80’s and in the 90’s. In 1993 they were renamed as the Avon Diecast & Toy Collectors Society to reflect the greater diversity of member’s interests. Friendly and informal meetings are held at the BAWA Leisure Centre in Southmead Road, Bristol, on the last Wednesday of each month. Members bring along items for the theme which are put on display. A vote is taken at the meeting, with points being awarded to the best displays. At the end of each membership year, the three members with the most points are awarded gift vouchers by the club. Members receive a monthly two page newsletter giving details of the Society's activities and other events being held in the area. Two special Brooklin models were commissioned by the Society in 1988.

The pair of Brooklin specials produced for the Avon Diecast Club in 1988 are very difficult to find due to their limited production run of 75 pieces. This Dodge Van is finished in orange with dark tan interior, brown fenders and orange wheels. The words "Avon Diecast and Model Collectors Society" and their suspension bridge logo are found on the side panels in brown, with the number ‘88 found on the doors.
