Henney built Packard’s long wheelbase models including ambulances and hearses as well as limousines although a good number of these cars were actually built by Briggs. Packard’s 1948 models were initially applauded then quickly ridiculed as the short-lived ‘bath-tub’ style fell out of favour. Christened by some as ‘the pregnant elephant’ these cars were beautifully crafted in the traditional Packard way and the long-wheelbase cars found favour with heads of state and other dignitaries.
