PRODUCT INFORMATION

Probably the most beautiful of the streamlined LSR cars, Golden Arrow was designed by ex-Sunbeam engineer John Irving and built at the KLG works in Kingston, West London. It was powered by a 24 litre W12 Napier Lion aero engine as fitted to the Supermarine Schneider Trophy planes, the shape of the car’s engine cowling being very similar to that of the S5 and was cooled by ice carried in the pannier tanks.
Henry Segrave reported that the car was very easy to drive when he increased the Land Speed Record to 231.45mph on Daytona Beach in 1929 in front of 120,000 spectators. Segrave had just one practice run before taking the record, the car never ran again and has probably run for less than 40 miles in its whole life. It has been on display at the Beaulieu Motor Museum since 1958.
