Introduced in 1976 the original Lotus Esprit underwent a complete body re-design in 1988 since when almost annual updates and improvements have resulted, like Porsche’s 911, in a bewildering number of versions of this venerable British supercar. In 1997 the lightweight GT3 was introduced alongside the long awaited 3.5 litre twin-turbo V8, both cars still looking as fresh and dramatic as the original Esprit did 21 years ago.
