BROOKLIN AND THE 1959 DESOTO ADVENTURER
Posted by BROOKLIN MODELS
Brooklin had been producing models of classic and special American cars for 25 years before a Desoto was finally added to the Brooklin Collection in 2000. The standard 1959 Desoto Adventurer (BRK82) was released in February 2000 and deleted in January 2007. It is finished in black with satin black roof, light beige and black interior, green license plate and whitewall tyres. This is the first Brooklin model to be fitted with modified whitewall tyres.
BROOKLIN COLLECTORS CLUB
The B.C.C. chose the 1959 Desoto Adventurer for their 2005 Club Special which was released on October 23 at their Annual General Meeting. The original 1959 Adventurers were available only in black or in white and the B.C.C. has brought the version in white. As with the standard version, the gold anodized side trim adds some flash to the body design. But in addition, the grille and wheels are also finished in gold. Interior is brown with beige inserts on the seats, tyres are whitewall and license plates are blue. This model features separate chrome handles, wipers, twin wing mirrors and two long aerials on the back fenders. The matte roof finish simulates the Scotch Grain paint that was standard on all Adventurer two-door hardtop roofs. Vinyl coverings on roofs did not become popular until the 1960's. 200 models were produced with “BCC 2005 1 of 200” cast in base. Of these, 150 were as per specification, but 32 were of a different shade and the remaining 18 of still a different shade.
