DeSoto’s famous ‘Airfoil’ hidden headlamps were the big news in this abbreviated model year as more important events were looming. ‘Out of sight, except at night’ was the slogan for a model that was only built in comparatively small numbers. A special ‘Fifth Avenue’ model boasted leather and Bedford Cord interior trim. Just under 8,000 four door Custom Sedans were built before production changed to military items.
