BROOKLIN AND THE 1931 STUDEBAKER PRESIDENT ROADSTER

FACTORY SPECIAL

This 1931 Studebaker President Roadster Factory Special was released in March 2002. It first appeared as standard in metallic silver and black with the top up, while the Factory Special is done as a top down. It is finished in a two-tone green that was the only other available color for this model. The seats are a very dark green and a detailed tonneau cover is beige. The car is set off with the big white sidewall tyres that were utilized back then. The open cockpit shows off the chrome gearshift lever, dashboard detailing and pedals. All the brightwork of the standard model remain the same. The special has a trunk that mounts on the rear bumper. Luxury cars of this era often had a demountable trunk to carry clothes for a trip. Built-in trunks did not become common for several more years. The quantity produced is 900 pieces.

JOHN ROBERTS CONVERSION

This very complicated conversion used a Studebaker Roadster and a Robeddie Volvo 704. The conversion involved cutting the main body from the wings, removing the bonnet and lower sides. The lower body was then reprofiled using filler and wire edging, ensuring a good fit to the Studebaker chassis. The Studebaker bonnet was fitted to the Volvo body and the gaps filled. Inside the Volvo interior was used with modifications to the Studebaker chassis around the front part of the floor.
