The “8C 2900” is one of the most prestigious cars in the Alfa Romeo museum. Powered by a 2.9 litre supercharged straight 8 producing 220 HP this Alfa was to become an icon among pre-war racing cars.
The beautiful “Superleggera” aluminium body work was hand beaten and riveted to a welded tubular frame which gave this big Alfa a strong yet lightweight construction.
Made by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan in 1938, this unique 8C was to participate in the world famous Le Mans 24 hour race supported by the “Sommer-Biondetti” crew. On the day of the race the Alfa performed very well and drove to an incredible advantage of about 150 km before sadly being forced to retire.
This 1:43 scale model is hand built from parts that are all cast in white metal. The body is carefully prepared and hand spray painted then assembled with the small nickle plated trim parts before being fixed to the interior and base plate.
